One could argue that since Virginie Viard took over the helm of Chanel from the late Karl Lagerfeld the majority of the brand's advertising campaigns have been less than impressive . (With the exception of the handbag campaign by Steven Meisel .) Even Charlotte Casiraghi and a majestic Monaco backdrop could not save the portraits of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for spring 2021. Now the photo duo is welcome again to shoot Chanel's latest handbag campaign. Rianne Van Rompaey, Imaan Hammam, Louise de Chevigny, Zoé Adjani and Anna Mouglalis come into the spotlight in the Paris district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés with different versions of the legendary quilted handbag.
"Where is Meisel when we need him?" Asked thiago 🙂 at the moment in which the campaign was discontinued.
"This is a nice, effective campaign, but seeing only half of the faces annoys me …" criticized GivenchyAddict .

GivenchyHomme wasn't impressed either. "It's obviously Chanel, but what makes it so special? What's the intrigue behind it? Is it all about a French girl walking around town with her expensive handbag? She just misses an iPhone and her Starbucks."
"It looks like a paid Instagram post from influencers. Why bother with a campaign that knows the bag is a bestseller?" badgalcrush pointed out.
But not everyone felt the same. "I like it, very cinematic …" admired THD96 .
"Despite the cropping of the faces, I find the result brilliant and the missing face in every picture only highlights the handbag itself emerges – which of course is the whole point of the campaign, “said vogue28 .
