Wearing the wrong size bra is like wearing the wrong size shoe: Uncomfortable, noticeable, and kind of damages the whole outfit. But like many people, I went there and clearly remember my first real bra design. Let me set the scene: Eighth grade graduation, and my parents bought me a special strapless polka-dot dress with a pink belt. I finished my hair and makeup, got into my dress, and was like a million bucks. A few hours after the ceremony, my strapless bra started to shimmy up to my waist with my full chest in cups. Fourteen years old I was in full-on panic mode. All I want is for graduation to be over so I can go home. In retrospect, the only thing I really remember from that day was how I felt thoughtful and uncomfortable.
It took a lot of trial and error over the years, but I learned how important a properly-fitting bra is. Not only does it serve as a foundation for every garment, but it can make anyone more confident . “If you feel good, you look good,” says model Maxey Greene who struggles to find a strapless bra that is comfortable and fits well. That's exactly why he's eager to try the new Wacoal mybraFit app.
If you're not familiar, this is a real digital fit tool you can use on your phone. (Scroll down to see for yourself.) All you have to do is answer four simple questions (shown above) to help determine the shape of your chest, and the app will do the rest for you. “I was hesitant at first,” Greene confesses, but was pleasantly surprised when the bra was delivered. Bra shopping is intimate. Do you remember the last time you had the right in-store fitting? Do you think you avoided it for any particular reason? Why or why not?
Actually, maybe three years ago. I didn ' t avoid it – it ' s really incredibly important for me to have proper bras for work, so I can ' t make sure my size is kept up to date. Unfortunately, on lockdown, it was not possible to enter the store, and then I got pregnant. I just knew it was time for a refit.
I find bra shopping difficult but especially online. What do you find challenging about it?
That measurement is not consistent! I don’t know for sure that I’m buying the right size of a bra unless I already have a long history with a brand.
Can you tell us about a time when an incorrect bra broke your day (or your attire)?
It was actually in a photo shoot. I was wearing a strapless bra (provided by the stylist), and it was way too big to cup. It created a shelf, and everything looked awful to me.
What are you looking for in a bra, and what are the absolute noe for you?
I'm desperately looking for a well -fitting but comfortable strapless bra for the summer. I can’t stand when a bra band is too tight and uncomfortable. If it was digging into my back, I wouldn’t wear it.
I love that now there is an easy and accurate bra-fitting app that people can use at home. Before using the mybraFit ™ app, what do you expect the experience to be like, and what is the real reality?
Honestly, it's hard to trust things like this. I didn’t expect the app to get my size right, and even though it shared the recommended size, I was hesitant. But I found out that the size at Wacoal is different from other brands, so I don ' t trust the process and sorted out exactly what the app recommends. The original size I ordered seemed too large, but I wanted to be sure, so I called the customer service line and contacted a Fit Expert who answered my questions and helped me fix a video call. I’m right – I need a size smaller. They sent me a new size, and I was very surprised when the bra arrived. The fit is perfect!
Would you say the mybraFit ™ app has changed your view of bra shopping?
It must have made it easier to do it from home! I love online shopping, but buying bras online is definitely one of the hardest things to do. The app makes you feel more confident in choosing a bra than ever before. The level of customer service I receive is rare these days, but it totally made the experience.
I love that on your website, you said everyone deserves to be comfortable, confident, and at home with their bodies. I was thinking this about how to find a proper bra that can be a foundation for every look and give people more confidence to look and feel their best. Will you finally find the right bra that makes you feel more confident?
A neat, comfortable bra is key. If you feel good, you look good.
