The Haute Couture shows definitely looked different this season. Heavyweights Elie Saab, Givenchy and Zuhair Murad actually skipped Paris this time around. But there was still a lot to see. Especially since the big couturiers were looking for a little escape when we recorded the spring collections 2021 from the comfort of our own home.

Iris van Herpen started off by proving that sustainable and recycled materials are just as luxurious as new fabrics. At Christian Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by tarot cards. Then it went on to Olivier Theyskens' second haute couture excursion in Azzaro. And this was only the first day.

In Chanel's presentation, models were walking on a petal-strewn runway wearing a range of dresses suitable for a prom. Vests also consisted of the typical tweed of the fashion house and satin shirts with ruffled skirts. Pierpaolo Piccioli stayed in Rome to showcase Valentino's window with an army of models strutting on Instagram-worthy plateau heels. Meanwhile, after his 80s-inspired collection, Alexandre Vauthier is clearly ready to party.

Kim Jones ended the week with his Fendi debut. Demi Moore, Kate Moss Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington helped flaunt the 19-look collection by going through a series of plexiglass sleeves that proved perfect for social distancing.
