While summer 2021 may be remembered in the beauty world as the time when colorful eye shadows reigned supreme, it was the resurgence of lipstick that I was most interested in. Yes, despite the fact of face masks it means many of us spend more time focused on fixing the makeup that goes on the upper half of our face, once not turned -mask, I noticed that lipstick is still the staple of every beauty work of every man in fashion. And the hottest lipstick colors this summer are a pleasure to look at. From the resurgence of classic crimson to new-gen glosses, there’s a lipstick love going on right now. And I’m so riding on it.

Traditionally a spring color, pastel pink seems to appear later this year — perhaps, in part, a reflection of us emerging from the lockdown with the arrival of summer. One of the biggest makeup trends of 2021 is the matte-red lip-not that this timeless look has really gone anywhere, but really aving a moment right now. Bringing summer is a celebration of red in its brightest form, from ripe strawberries to classic box column shades. Strictly speaking, it's not a color, but I can't say much about lipstick summer trends without mentioning glosses in all their glory. Forget the glittery, holographic ' 90s take on gloss; this summer, it’s all about new generation formulas with high luster and nothing to be sticky. Peach, watermelon, and cherry colors are the order for a juicy wash of color that glows on the lips.

Mauve is often written as a shadow of a past era, but look at any launch of lipstick now, and you'll find a plethora of modern mauve in the mix. If light is your bag, then opt for lilac hues, while muted neutrals with a little purple are just pleasing chic. It’s unexpected, but luckily it’s one of my favorite summer lipstick colors so far.
