Target Teamed Up With Vogue's Top Fashion Editor—See Every Joy-Sparking Piece

For Target, collaboration has been its way to make the fashion industry more approachable than ever. First with its revival of designer-led collections with brands like Sandy Liang and Christopher John Rogers, and now bringing back the Future Collective, an in-house label made with a rotating group of style influencers. This time, the retailer is partnering up on the latter with stylist and Vogue global contributing fashion editor-at-large Gabriella Karefa-Johnson. Over the years, she’s become of top influence in the sartorial world, from being captured for her vibrant street style moments to spearheading editorial campaigns that make you remember the joy of getting dressed again. And with this collaboration, the editor is bringing that same essence to shopping with inclusivity in mind.

To collaborate with an expansive retailer like Target is a full-circle moment for the editor. She explains, “I remember I got a Target blouse for my first magazine interview. It was a way I could access fashion within my price point at the time.” We all most likely have a memory of buying that affordable blazer or blouse for an interview or event, and this collection is a strong catalyst in making that experience easier and bridging the gap between average consumers and unattainable trends.

With nearly 100 items in total, the collection ranges from XXS to 4X and settles at a price point of $50 and under. Karefa-Johnson and Target have created pieces, from transitional dresses and matching sets to versatile layering pieces, that can easily be mixed and matched to your style preference. Whether your goal is to create a new wardrobe from scratch or simply add a few statement pieces to your rotation, there is an item in this collection for everyone.

The Gabriella Karefa-Johnson x Future Collective is now available to shop online and in-store. See and shop our favorites below.

In the design process, creating fun yet versatile denim was a goal for Karefa-Johnson, and this shirt (and matching pants below) proves the mission was accomplished. Wear the set together, or mix it with contrasting shades of denim—the choice is yours.

Contrast stitching has made quite the resurgence lately, and it’s just as good, if not better, done in denim.

You may already own quite a few black or beige blazers, so why not add a spark of color to the business-casual look? This lavender hue is an ideal way to prepare for the spring days ahead.

When shopping for a staple poplin shirt, it’s important to look for a relaxed fit and breathable fabric for optimal wear. Made out of soft linen, this shirt will be your favorite new basic.

This skirt has a whopping three trends in one—Barbie pink, cargo, and mini lengths.

Instead of settling on a plain T-shirt and jeans for those lazy mornings, a printed set will make dressing just as easy but make for a fresher outfit.

Denim can end up costing a pretty penny, especially if you want a more on-trend silhouette. Get the baggy style that’s been everywhere lately without making a dent in your wallet.

Anyone who’s shopped at Target knows the retailer is always chock-full of vibrant and printed blouses. With the ruching, square neckline, and puff sleeves, this version feels very 2023.

Made in three colorways, these cargo pants prove the style has surpassed trend status and has become a casual wardrobe necessity.

We saw the Bridgerton effect bring corsets back on the map in 2020, and it’s still going strong. This sweatshirt offers an innovative take on the trend, bringing the shaping element to loungewear.

As we mentioned before, this collection is truly for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for the neon look above or prefer the all-brown and tonal approach pictured here.

Chocolate brown or pastel-colored swirls—we think you might need both.

Why opt for one printed set, when you can have two? After perusing the collection IRL, we can guarantee that the comfort and quality of the knitwear are next-level, especially for such an affordable price point

As you can see, most of the collection is filled with classic and everyday pieces with small on-trend touches, like this texture on a simple black miniskirt.

With the cinched-in waist, this is not your average denim jacket; it’s a fashion jacket. Wear this casually with cargoes or pair with a sleek slip dress, the outfit can easily go both ways.

Karefa-Johnson wouldn’t create a collection without an assortment of fun accessories included. This croissant clutch will be a delicious (and trendy) touch to any outfit.

The Vogue editor said this would be the perfect traveling ensemble. Why should we leave the cool airport outfits to celebrities? This is just as comfortable as it is chic.

If black isn’t your preference, it comes in a classic cream shade as well. (If you dare, maybe mix and match?)

Bermuda shorts are a tad controversial choice these days, but again, Karefa-Johnson proves that the true joy in getting dressed is being unafraid to stand out.

Karefa-Johnson couldn’t create a collection without a versatile black dress in tow. With a one-sided cutout and side slit, she ensures there’s still a subtle statement made in the classic piece.
